General Summary / Overview Statement:

The EHR Trainer will possess and demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of and skill in areas of healthcare applications, technology, and/or education as evidenced by experience in providing classroom and/or on-site training in health information systems (EHR). Our EHR Trainer conduct needs and skills assessments for end users to determine the type and duration of training needed, develop training documentation and outlines, and deliver training to end-users with varying levels of computer literacy and in a range of modules/applications. They must have the ability to understand healthcare software, explain technical concepts to non-technical professionals, and to translate administrative and operating requirements into clear, specific, and actionable curricula and then implement and teach those curricula. The EHR Trainer will support annual department initiatives and goals for our organization outlined by our Board of Directors.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Acts as primary EHR trainer conducting training of Electronic Healthcare Record, primarily for clerical and clinical support staff end users across multiple departments within the organization.
Assesses, plans, develops and implements educational programs for staff based on needs assessments, new computer applications, system updates, and other organizational goals and changes. Updates and refines training program schedule and components based on user needs.
Serves as a conduit for aligning resources and activities related to EHR topics and issues that staff face to better the function of offices across the organization. 
Collaborate with end-users/practices on resolving workflow issues for consideration to applicable internal committees.
Participates in the comprehensive implementation, testing, and review of existing or new EHR software implementation, releases and/or upgrades.
Coordinates new application functionality with the training team. Works with multidisciplinary teams to develop supporting materials as needed and aids team during training
Provide optimal and professional training support, acting as a representative of the organization and incorporating the company mission and vision into the activities of the training department.
Assists managers in establishing educational goals and plans regarding clinical applications for the department, for a specific group of employees, or a single employee with educational needs.
Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Candidates should be able to work independently, demonstrate exceptional communication and listening skills and have the ability to understand customer needs and develop appropriate solutions.

• BA in healthcare administration or related healthcare field preferred
• At least 3 years of direct experience with an Electronic Medical Record platform
• Experience as an "end user expert" preferred
• Understanding of adult learning theory, and training development preferred
• Certified EClinical Works EMR/PPMS preferred

Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrated ability to train an audience using multiple modalities, in 1:1 and/or group settings
• Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot, interpret end user needs and identify areas of support amongst a cross functional team of professionals
• Demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills, the ability to work collaboratively and effectively communicate to multidisciplinary staff.
