Compass Medical is affiliated with Steward Healthcare and offers outstanding patient care and technology within Primary Care, Urgent Care and Ancillary Care. We offer on-site Radiology/Imaging.

General Summary / Overview Statement:

This is a "non-exempt", clinical position responsible for providing a broad range of health care services and individualized care in the diagnosis and management of common medical conditions, including chronic illnesses. Our Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioner focus on diagnosis, treatment, prevention, wellness and patient education.   


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Collaborating with physicians and other health professionals as needed, including providing referrals
  • Counseling and educating patients on health behaviors, self-care skills, and treatment options
  • Diagnosing and treating acute illnesses, infections, and injuries
  • Diagnosing, treating, and monitoring chronic diseases (e.g., diabetes, high blood pressure)
  • Obtaining medical histories and conducting physical examinations
  • Ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic studies (e.g., lab tests, x-rays, EKGs)
  • Prescribing medications
  • Prescribing physical therapy and other rehabilitation treatments
  • Providing prenatal care and family planning services
  • Providing well-child care, including screening and immunizations
  • Providing health maintenance care for adults, including annual physicals
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Non-Physician Practitioner State Licensure
  • At least one year of current Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner experience in Urgent Care or Primary Care
  • Flexibility with work schedule
  • Knowledge of the professional medical practice and care to give and evaluate patient care.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies, legal regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrate skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of medicine to provide ongoing patient care.
  • Experience in taking medical history, assessing medical condition, and interpreting findings.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
  • Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, coworkers, and the public.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, understandable manner with patients and family members.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of HIPAA.



Working Conditions:


  • Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and occasionally walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, lift, support patients and the ability to adjust vision for close visualization-oriented tasks.
  • Work is performed in an indoor environment and with both natural and artificial lighting.
  • Exposure to patients in various states of hygiene and emotional condition.
  • Potential risk of exposure to blood borne and airborne pathogens and bodily fluids.
  • Potential exposure to communicable virus, disease and infection.
  • Potential traumatic medical situations or patients experiencing pain or discomfort.
