Work Schedule: Per Diem

Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday 7am-7:30pm

                                  Saturday 8am-5pm and Sunday 8am-1pm

Department: Radiology

General Summary / Overview Statement: Under the supervision of the Lead Technologist and the Radiology Supervisor, assists the Radiologist in conducting diagnostic examinations requested by practitioners whose privileges allow such referrals. The position requires the production of quality x-ray images, and the performance of other related duties.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Demonstrates competency in performing radiologic examinations on all ages of patients from newborn to geriatric.
Must be able to communicate calmly, compassionately and professionally with all types of patients.
Reviews radiology imaging requisition for required information to perform examinations. Calls appropriate personnel to review discrepancies. 
Properly identifies and prepares patients for examinations, answers questions and/or refers to other appropriate personnel.
Follows HIPAA standards to maintain patient privacy and disclosure of protected patient information.
Relies on knowledge of anatomy, physiology and effects of disease processes to properly and safely position the patient to obtain high quality images.
Demonstrates knowledge of proper shielding and radiation protection for all patients. Ensure that all patients of childbearing age are questioned accordingly and shielded.
Applies ALARA principles to patient, self and other associates.
Understands the Image Wisely and Image Gently programs and the importance of dose reduction opportunities for all patients.
Obtains quality diagnostic images
Possesses and utilizes proper aseptic technique, universal protocol and Standard Precautions as needed.
Maintains dept. inventory to ensure adequate supplies. Restocks un-used supplies to proper storage location after each examination.
Follows all PACS workflow procedures for quality, proper identification and completeness of examination requested.
Actively participates in daily huddles and problem solving.
Contributes to other areas in the department as requested.
Shows ability to prioritize duties. Adjusts and revises workload as necessary in view of stat orders, and fluctuations in patient workload.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Knowledge of HIPAA
AART Registered required
At least 1 year of experience within profession
Current CPR certification

Ability to deal effectively with patients, families, visitors, Physicians and staff.
Ability to handle extremely stressful and emotional situations.
Ability to perform precise and delicate manipulation of computer data.
Ability to calculate and interpret numbers.
Ability to analyze and synthesize data.
